The Yard

The location of a CrossFit event is important. The Fittest Games is about celebration of sport. The rawness of starting with something that seemingly doesn’t belong, that isn’t good enough, that doesn’t fit in and turning it into something special. This is the journey so many CrossFit Athletes travel.

Can you remember when you first walked into a box and now reflect on the transformation you have gone through; mind, body and spirit. This is the theme site for the 2012 Fittest Games ” The Yard” a celebration of the raw journey that is CrossFit. For one day this location will transform from a hollowed out warehouse to an epicenter for electrifying activity. The hard work, passion and commitment of many will pour out into this unfinished space and leave a time capsule of emotions and memories that will live in the walls.

For some, this will be your first CrossFit Competition; the one where you overcome insurmountable obstacles or set a new personal record. Others will set a tone for the upcoming Open Sectionals and the South Central Region.There is no doubt that this place has no real meaning but what happens down on 6th and Calle on January 21st will mean everything to many. Stay Ready.

Outside the Box: SICFIT is a multi-faceted brand but most importantly, it is an eco-system of promotion. Each of these facets reflect the interests of the company’s three principals: Online Media, Apparel, Action Sports Media Production, Event Marketing, Lifestyle Brand Development, and now, you can add our first foray into mobile technology. The hub of the SICFIT brand is our home page. Each of the other elements, feeds into the home page in one way or another.
With a distinct love of the CrossFit sport, our brand is best compared to MMA’s TAPOUT or boarding’s Hurley International. This comparison is (obviously) less about magnitude of our brand’s current influence and more about a) our approach to the promotion of the sport and b) our affinity for the sport.
One diversion that we’ve taken is that we avidly embrace Austin’s tech culture. We do focus on web and mobile technologies and applications that can fortify the CrossFit community and the sport. As such, we will continue to develop these products that the sport’s community demands. We have taken on the opportunity to work with Eric Webb to develop and promote SICFIT’s first mobile application that:

Helps CrossFit affiliates reach, teach, and inspire their athletes outside the box.

Debuting in the U.S. in July 2011, each CrossFit gym will have it’s own mobile social network. Communication will improve, loyalty will be fortified, and the word-of-mouth buzz around each CrossFit affiliate will be amplified. Here’s to thinking “Outside the Box”. Cheers.

Only the beginning

Games Bound. It is a phrase coined by SICFIT to mean, “I am making the trip to the Home Depot Center for the 2011 Reebok CrossFit Games in Los Angeles, California on July 29-31 - whether to compete or to leave inspired for the next year.” I asked for photos from the SICFIT nation and here are some of the first to trickle in. From California to Florida, people chimed in. The photography is beautiful and so will be California. For what we do, it is the pinnacle of the year and this year, my baby (not Alexis, SICFIT) is a platinum sponsor. 

A lot can happen in a year. Especially if you climb the mountain to see where exactly it is that you want to travel. That is the inspiration behind the tee and I hope everyone loves it. 

I was at the NLI this past weekend having a great time as usual and ran into these two crossfitters. They were getting into some sicfit gear and just finished the floater WOD. In a spontaneous reaction to our similar look I pulled off my shirt to jump into some fun! Look for a video to be out soon!
